Taiwan donates US$11.5 million to Ukrainian refugees
Foreign Minister Joseph Wu says the government will be donating US$11.5 million to help Ukrainians who have fled the war in their country.
According to Wu, the funds will be donated to the governments of five European Union member states for distribution.
US6.5 million will be sent soon to the government of Poland, US$500,000 to Lithuania, and US$1.5 million each to the governments of Slovakia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.
The foreign minister says the five governments will distribute the funds to non-governmental organizations in their respective countries that are assisting Ukraine refugees.
The announcement of the aid package comes a week after the foreign ministry pledged a donation of NT$100 million to the Governmental Strategic Reserves Agency in Warsaw, which is providing aid to Ukrainian refugees in Poland.
