More high schools will get funds from the Ministry of Education for enhancing bilingual education.

The MOE says currently it's offering subsidies to 94 high schools to develop online English learning in conjunction with the schools in the US, UK, Australia and Canada.

It's hoping to expand the number to 250 by the end of 2030.

The MOE has also set up experimental bilingual education classes in 50 high schools, and that number should increase to 140 in the next decade.

Facing criticism that such a policy will only benefit the elite, the MOE is encouraging schools to incorporate more courses into their bilingual education program so that students have more chance to practice.
