Moderna to open subsidiary in Taiwan
Moderna is planning to open subsidiaries in Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong to provide a local presence that can support the delivery of vaccines and therapeutics.
The expansion programme comes as Moderna continues to scale-up the manufacturing and distribution of its COVID jabs, as well as other future mRNA vaccines and medication.
The company currently has three subsidiaries in the Asia-Pacific region, in Japan, South Korea, and Australia.
Reports say Moderna is looking for sites near the Taoyuan International Airport and the Greater Taipei area.
The government signed a deal with Moderna in July of last year to purchase 35 million doses of the company's next generation COVID vaccine, 20 million of which are scheduled to be delivered this year.
