The Central Epidemic Command Center(CECC) is urging essential workers in certain government-regulated industries to get a second coronavirus vaccine shot before 17 December.

The CECC announced over the weekend that all workers of 24 categories of workplaces must get two doses of the Covid-19 vaccines by the end of next Friday. Employees attached to certain ministries must be fully vaccinated by 1 January with at least 14 days between receiving their second dose and their first day of work.

The new regulation covers employees of, or those working in institutions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Ministry of Labor.

CECC spokesperson Zhuang Ren-xiang says, all workers at these agencies will need to provide proof of inoculation, alongside negative results from either PCR or rapid tests.

Both should be taken within three days prior to the first day of work.

Those who have been deemed to be medically unfit for vaccination need to provide details of an initial negative test result and will need to continue providing negative test results on a weekly basis.

Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says the list of people required to be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus by the first of January could be extended later this week.
