A government survey shows that progress on gender equality is accelerating here in Taiwan, as more women are now taking supervisory and executive positions in the private sector and posts as public representatives in politics.

According to the survey, of the 374,000 elected officials, business leaders and managers of all of the people employed in Taiwan in 2020, 114,000, or 30.5% of them, were women.

The government says that figure is 10 percentage points higher than the 20.5% seen in 2010 and it is the first time the number has surpassed the 30% mark.
