AZ-BNT vaccine mixing in next round
Health Minister Chen Shih-chung says more vaccine mixing will be allowed in the next round of vaccinations.
Chen says for the 13th round, medical personnel who received an AstraZeneca shot at least ten weeks ago will be able to choose BNT for their second dose.
The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) says this decision is in line with findings from the US Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
The CECC had already previously approved mixing of the AZ and Moderna brands, also for medical personnel.
Chen says more research needs to be conducted before mixing the locally-developed Medigen with other vaccines will be allowed.
In related news CECC says vaccination shots received overseas will be recognized in Taiwan.
The CECC says people who received Covid-19 jabs while abroad will be able to submit their proof of vaccination to the local National Immunization Information System.
However, these individuals will need to maintain their original proof of vaccination, they will not be issued a local yellow vaccination card with their overseas information.
The centre adds that fully vaccinated individuals will not be required to get booster shots upon returning to Taiwan at this time.
Those who had only one shot will have to use the vaccination appointment system to schedule a second dose.
