NDC outlines stimulus voucher programme
The National Development Council (NDC) has outlined its plans for the new stimulus voucher programme.
It will be launched in early October and the vouchers will be valid through the end of next April.
According to the NDC, the vouchers will have a total value of NT$5,000 and be issued to Taiwan citizens and Alien Permanent Resident Certificate holders free of charge.
They will be available in paper or digital format.
Council Minister Kung Ming-hsin says pre-ordering of the vouchers will begin in late September on a single platform, as opposed to the multiple registration websites that were used last year.
In addition to in-store purchases, the vouchers will also be available for use on a still undetermined list of domestic e-commerce platforms.
However, they will not be valid for use on any foreign e-commerce sites.
They will reportedly come in denominations of three NT$1,000 vouchers, two NT$500 vouchers and five NT$200 vouchers.
Along with the man voucher programme, the government will also issue themed vouchers for use in eight economic sectors.
The economics ministry says it is planning to release four million NT$500 food and restaurant vouchers; the Ministry of Transport will issue NT$1.2 million domestic travel vouchers valued at NT$1,000 each; and the Sports Administration will release NT$2 million vouchers worth NT$500.
