Two Taiwan airlines are joining an international travel pass trial programme.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is planning the pass as a way of certifying a passenger's Covid-19 vaccination status.

Under the trial programme, passengers would download the IATA Travel Pass app and register on it.

They would then go to designated medical clinics to get PCR Covid-19 tests, and the results would be uploaded to the app.

The app can then be used when checking in to save time and reduce contact with staff.

China Airlines and EVA Air have signed up to take part in the trial programme.

They say that as more countries open up their borders, the app will play an important role in reducing the spread of Covid-19.
