Tax revenue rises by over 20%

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) says NT$567.3 billion in tax revenue was collected last month.
That's a 20.1% increase from last year and set a new record in corporate income, securities transaction and business tax revenues.
According to the ministry, corporate income tax revenue rose by 77.7%, securities transaction tax revenue increased by nearly 100% while business tax revenue was up by 16.7%.
The ministry is attributing the large securities transaction tax revenue increase to the record setting average daily turnovers seen on the Taiwan Stock Exchange since late year and into early this year.
However, officials say a decline of 19.8% was registered in personal income tax revenue last month.
