More testing facilities at Taoyuan airport
The Taoyuan International Airport Corporation says it will be expanding the number of coronavirus testing facilities this week as part of efforts to ensure that no cases of the coronavirus Delta variant enter Taiwan undetected.
According to the airport operator, it will increase the number of coronavirus screening rooms to 36 in the coming days, with each one having 18 rooms.
The statement comes after the Central Epidemic Command Center began requiring all travellers to undergo PCR testing on their arrival here in Taiwan.
Travellers who have not visited high-risk countries in the past two weeks are required to take a deep-throat saliva test and a PCR test on arrival before being transported to a quarantine hotel or quarantine facility while those arriving from high-risk countries are given PCR tests on their arrival at a central quarantine facility.
