Premier Su Tseng-chang says vaccines donated by Japan will go first to the elderly and those who are immunocompromised.
The premier says inspections of the 1.24-million AstraZeneca shots are expected to be completed this week, and inoculations will begin soon after.
Su says a large portion of the doses will be reserved for those aged 75 or older, residents of elderly care homes, and those receiving dialysis treatment.
In addition, the Premier says the current level 3 alert will be extended another two weeks, until 28 June.
Schools will continue online learning until summer vacation.
An official announcement and further details are expected at the Central Epidemic Command Center's press conference this afternoon.
