The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) says the latest batch of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccines are now being distributed.

The 410,400 doses of the vaccine arrived in Taiwan on 19 May.

Deputy Interior Minister Chen Tsung-yen says the first 150,000 doses will be offered to eligible recipients who have yet to receive their first shot.

In Taipei and New Taipei, the vaccines will be available to people in priority groups 1 through 3, which includes medical workers, government epidemic prevention personnel and people whose jobs are necessary for the maintenance of public order.

But they will only be available to medical workers elsewhere.

The remaining 260,000 doses will be distributed on 10 June and be given to people in priority groups 1 through 3 nationwide who have not yet received their first shot.

In related vaccine news, health minister Chen Shi-chong has just announced that 150,000 Moderna coronavirus vaccine doses will arrive tomorrow, and will be used mainly for the medical personnel on the front line of fighting the disease.
