Tender awarded for Taoyuan airport's third terminal

The contractor to build Taoyuan International Airport's much-delayed third terminal has finally emerged.
Taoyuan International Airport Corporation (TIAC) announced that it has awarded the tender to a joint group comprising Samsung Construction & Trading Corporation and RSEA Engineering Corporation.
It was the only group that submitted a tender after the project failed to secure a contractor multiple times last year.
TIAC says the group will soon start preparations, including bringing in foreign workers and renting temporary offices, for the NT$44.5 billion construction work.
In addition, TIAC says it is inviting companies to bid for the NT$10.5 billion project to install the mechanical and electrical systems for the third terminal.
The firm says if everything goes well, the third terminal should start operations in 2026.
