Taichung MRT ridership exceeds 300,000 in 4 days

The newly opened Taichung metropolitan rail (MRT) line has attracted hundreds of thousands of riders over its first few days of operation.
The Taichung Mass Rapid Transit Corporation says since the system's month-long trial run began on 25 March, the green line has carried over 310,000 riders to their destinations.
This past weekend also marked the first pressure test for the system, and officials say additional personnel were dispatched to platforms to help guide the influx of passengers.
Transport authorities say since opening, ridership on the green line has increased each day, with the Taichung High Speed Rail station being the most popular.
And officials say they are expecting more record numbers over the upcoming long weekend, and measures are in place to handle the increase in traffic.
