The Financial Supervisory Commission says eighteen local banks are now offering bilingual services at their branches.
According to the commission, the Bank of Taiwan is now offering services in both Chinese and English at 50 of its branches islandwide, while the Yu-Shan Commercial Bank and the Taiwan Business Bank are offering such services at 17 of their branches.
The commission says most local banks here in Taiwan are planning to offer bilingual services by 2026 at the earliest.
Financial Supervisory Commission officials say although guidelines have not been released for how banks should best establish Chinese and English language services, it is recommending that each bilingual branch have at least two or three employees who can serve foreign clients.
