The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) is getting ready to crack down on noisy vehicles. Starting on 1 January next year, owners of vehicles exceeding a noise level of 90 decibels will face fines ranging from NT$1,800-3,600.
EPA officials say they've set up visual and audio recorders at locations where there were a lot of complaints about noise and sensitive places such as outside hospitals.
In addition to those fixed-point recorders, specially-equipped vans will be also on the move to record vehicles that are too loud.
The new measures are based on the newly amended Noise Control Act.
