The Taiwan Food & Drug Administration has approved Taiwan's first clinical trial for a coronavirus vaccine.

Adimmune had applied for permission to hold first-phase human trials, but the Food and Drug Administration required more documentation from the company. That paperwork has now been submitted, and the trials have received the go-ahead.

Adimmune has selected 60 test candidates, and can now administer its trial vaccine to the volunteers.

The Central Epidemic Command Center has earmarked NT$13.5 billion to speed up domestic coronavirus vaccine research and development.
