India's top envoy to Taiwan is expressing his hope that New Delhi and Taipei can leverage their strengths through a bilateral partnership to drive growth in the artificial intelligence and chipmaking industries.

In a speech marking India's 76th Republic Day, Manharsinh Yadav touted the two countries' achievements over the past year through independent endeavours or partnership, especially those in the technology industry.

The diplomat also drew attention to India's growing economic clout and increasing standing in the chipmaking industry and stressed that the ongoing AI revolution "aligns with both Taiwan and India's strengths."

Yadav said he firmly believes that an India-Taiwan partnership can play a significant role as Taiwan pursues President Lai Ching te's vision of becoming an "AI island."

Deputy Foreign Minister Tien Chung-kwang also attended the banquet - and he told attendees that as the Taiwan-India friendship deepens, he's confident that "future bilateral cooperation and exchanges will be even more fruitful."
