The ruling DPP and opposition KMT are trading accusations over potential mass recall election campaigns.

The controversy began when DPP legislator Ker Chien-ming (柯建銘) proposed recalling 41 opposition lawmakers, a suggestion quickly disowned by other DPP officials. In response, KMT lawmakers hinted at recalling 38 DPP legislators, but KMT leaders later dismissed this idea.

KMT Chairman Eric Chu stated the party would "prepare for war but not ask for war," vowing only to act if provoked. Some lawmakers, including DPP's Wang Shih-chien (王世堅), criticized the hostile recall campaign proposals, calling them distractions.

Recall elections in Taiwan are rare, with only one legislator ever removed through this process. Both parties appear to be backing away from escalating tensions further.
