Taiwan has officially rolled out its digital nomad visa, aiming to attract global professionals seeking flexible work and extended stays.

The visa offers an initial three-month stay, extendable up to six months, without requiring holders to leave the country. Applicants must meet at least one of three criteria: 1) Prior approval of a digital nomad visa from another country; 2) Annual earnings of at least twenty thousand US dollars in any of the past two years for those in their twenties; or 3) Annual earnings of at least forty thousand US dollars for those aged 30 and above, also in any of the past two years.

The National Development Council estimates there are 35 million digital nomads worldwide. It envisions the program bringing one hundred thousand visitors to Taiwan, with hopes that ten thousand will decide to stay long-term.

Details can be found on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
