The Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) reported a November Consumer Price Index annual growth rate of 2.08%, surpassing the 2% inflation warning threshold while the core CPI, excluding fruit, vegetables, and energy, rose by 1.74%.

Both figures show an accelerated increase compared to October. DGBAS data also shows vegetable prices rose by 19.43% year-on-year, marking the highest increase in nearly two years. Vegetable and fruit price hikes contributed 0.52 percentage points to the overall CPI increase.

DGBAS Specialist Chih-Hung Tsao explained that recent typhoons, accompanied by heavy rainfall, caused agricultural losses, keeping fruit and vegetable prices elevated. Notably, the cost of dining out also rose, with the year-on-year increase expanding to 3.06% in November, the highest level in eight months.
