Foreign ministry increases number of fellowships
Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung has announced an increase in the number of ministry-sponsored Taiwan Fellowships from 100 to 125 beginning next year.
The fellowships are available for foreign experts and scholars interested in researching topics related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, Asia-Pacific region and Sinology universities at institutes in Taiwan.
Lin says the increase in the number of fellowships shows that Taiwan is willing to work with its diplomatic allies and like-minded countries to cultivate promising youth, especially in key areas such as semiconductors, ICT, agriculture and healthcare.
The foreign minister also touted the success of the Taiwan fellowship and scholarship programs over the past decade or more, saying the Taiwan Fellowship program and the Scholarship program have benefited nearly 4,000 recipients.
The ministry earlier this month reported that the number of Taiwan scholarships offered annually will be increased from the current 200 to 400 by 2025 and to 500 by 2026.
