Taiwan and Latvia sign MOU on drone cooperation
Taiwan and Latvia have signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate in the drone industry.
The agreement was signed by Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation Chairman Hu Kai-hong and a representative from the Latvian Federation of Defense and Security Industries.
Hu has been leading a 47-member delegation comprising representatives from 16 drone companies, related industries and government officials to Latvia this week.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Taiwan's top representative to Latvia, Andrew Lee described the island as a reliable partner to Latvia and Estonia, highlighting its advanced technology in information and communications as well as semiconductors.
During the visit, over 120 industry leaders from Latvia and Estonia joined discussions, including key Estonian lawmakers. Taiwan’s representative to Latvia, Andrew Lee, highlighted Taiwan’s cutting-edge tech and its value as a reliable partner.
Legislator Wang Ting-yu (王定宇) emphasized shared democratic values and the need to reduce dependence on authoritarian regimes like China and Russia. Latvian and Estonian officials pledged to strengthen trade and international ties with Taiwan.
This partnership aims to build resilient supply chains while fostering innovation in the rapidly growing drone market.
