President promotes Taiwan as travel destination
President Lai Ching-te opened the Taipei International Travel Fair on Friday, underscoring Taiwan’s commitment to boosting tourism as a key national strategy.
With 1,500 booths from a record 111 cities and countries, the fair highlights sustainable and digital tourism, with displays from the Ministry of Culture, Agriculture, and other sectors showcasing Taiwan's unique attractions.
Lai also highlighted the "TAIWAN-Waves of Wonder" campaign, aimed at promoting Taiwan's appeal globally, and a "100 Highlights of Taiwan" initiative spotlighting top sites across the island.
He emphasized tourism as a form of "soft power" and encouraged public and private collaboration to enhance Taiwan's image as a travel destination.
The president invites people to explore the fair and show their support for Taiwan's growing tourism industry.
The 2024 Taipei International Travel Fair runs from 1-4 November at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1.
