September unemployment rate drops to 3.43%

Taiwan’s official unemployment rate declined by 0.05 percentage points to 3.43% in September, compared with the same month in 2023, although the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose by 0.02 percentage points to 3.38%. According to the monthly "manpower survey results report" published by the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics, the number of unemployed persons was 412,000 in September, a decrease of 7,000 (-1.55%) and 4,000 (-0.83%) from the previous month and that of the previous year, respectively. Meanwhile the labour force participation rate declined by 0.09 percentage points to 59.33% in September. However, it rose by 0.12 percentage points from that of the previous year.
