Average earnings in August up over 6%

In August, the average regular earnings of full-time employees with Taiwan nationality (excluding the foreigners and part-time employees) were NT$49,387, an increase of 0.37% from the previous month and up 3.22% from the same month last year. According to a report from the Directorate General of Budget Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS), the average irregular earnings was NT$13,492. After adding the irregular earnings, the average total earnings were NT$62,879, an increase of 6.31% than the same month last year. Median regular earnings were NT$38,793, an increase of 0.35% from the previous month and an increase of 3.68% from August 2023.
In August, the average regular earnings of all employees (including full-time and part-time employees with Taiwan nationality and foreigners) was NT$46,751, an increase of 0.44% from the previous month and up by 3.08% from the same month last year. Irregular earnings were NT$12,669. After adding irregular earnings, the average total earnings were NT$59,420, an increase of 6.02% than the same month last year. The median regular earnings were NT$37,502, an increase of 0.40% from the previous month and by 3.77% from the same month last year.
Meanwhile, regular hourly earnings of part-time employees were NT$20,865, an increase of 3.24% from the previous month and by 2.89% from the same month last year. After adding in irregular earnings, the average total earnings were NT$21,646, which was up by 3.39% from the previous month and by 3.11% from the same month last year. The median regular earnings were NT$15,569, up by 1.43% from the previous month and a decrease of 2.92% from the same month last year.
According to the DGBAS, at the end of August, the number of payroll employees was 8.474 million, an increase of 2,000 (or 0.03%) from the previous month.
