Hsieh thanks supporters for beating recall

Keelung Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang is thanking the KMT for its support and the people of Keelung for voting against a public recall motion.
The statement comes after the Keelung City Election Commission announced that 55.16% of valid votes in Sunday's ballot were in favour of him remaining in office while 44.85% of valid votes backed his recall.
Speaking after the commission released the figures, Hsieh thanked former President Ma Ying-jeou, Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu, Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an and New Taipei Mayor Hou Yu-ih saying with the recall vote now over, hard work of the city government will continue.
