Typhoon Krathon causes NT$558 million in damages
Typhoon Krathon has caused an estimated NT$558 million in agricultural damage across Taiwan, with Pingtung and Kaohsiung hit hardest.
The Ministry of Agriculture's latest report highlights significant losses in crops, particularly bananas, guavas, and wax apples, totalling NT$409 million.
Livestock losses, primarily involving chickens, pigs, and geese, are estimated at NT$3.7 million NT, while fisheries, including grouper and shrimp, suffered NT$6.6 million in damage.
In addition, private facility losses, such as farmland erosion and damage to agricultural and fishery infrastructure, are estimated at NT$138 million.
The ministry's assessment includes input from local governments and agencies, focusing on the widespread impact of the storm on Taiwan's agricultural sector.
