Tai Tzu-ying has become Taiwan's youngest-ever ambassador-at-large. The badminton player was appointed to the role by President Lai Ching-te.

She was one of 10 people who received a certificate at a ceremony at the Presidential Office confirming their appointments.

Tai says she was happy to serve as an ambassador-at-large and hoped to do her best to help cultivate the next generation of badminton players and improve Taiwan's sports environment. She also said she would try to bring greater visibility to Taiwan and promote its foreign relations.

The other appointees to ambassador-at-large posts included former Digital Affairs Minister Audrey Tang and Sophiyah Liu, Taiwan's first female baseball umpire.
