The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) is introducing new regulations that will require online platforms to remove scam ads within 24 hours after receiving a notification.

Under the new rules, platforms must also implement a real-name system, verifying the identities of advertisers and ad funders.

The regulations are part of a broader effort to combat online fraud, following the recent implementation of the Anti-Fraud Act.

Platforms that fail to comply could face fines up to NT$25 million. The ministry will also require platforms to publish annual transparency reports detailing user activity, scam ad removals, and processing times. The rules are expected to take effect by the end of the year if public consultation goes smoothly.
