MOE expands AI education in schools
The Ministry of Education is rolling out new AI initiatives in schools to strengthen digital learning.
This semester, 23 senior high schools will offer diverse AI elective courses designed to enhance students' foundational skills and computational thinking.
The ministry is also introducing AI learning companions for primary and secondary schools, integrating them into digital platforms to reduce educational disparities.
A pilot AI competition for younger students will also launch by the end of this year, with plans to expand nationally in 2025. The goal is to encourage early engagement with AI and problem-solving using real-world applications.
Deputy Education Minister Benson Yeh says these initiatives aim to position Taiwan as a leader in AI education in Asia.
Updated digital teaching guidelines also include AI usage risks and integration strategies, providing a framework for schools and parents to support digital learning.
