Taipei prosecutors investigating Pacific Core City bribery claims
Taipei prosecutors are investigating allegations of bribery in the Core Pacific City development case.
The inquiry focuses on a significant increase in the project's floor area ratio to 840% during former Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je's term.
Prosecutors suspect that senior city officials may have improperly influenced the decision.
Several key figures, including Taipei City Councillor Angela Ying and Core Pacific Group Chair Shen Ching-ching (沈慶京), have been detained or questioned. The investigation also extends to former Deputy Mayor Peng Chen-sheng (彭振聲) and other city officials.
Prosecutors are looking into whether there was corruption involved in approving the development's expanded floor area.
The Control Yuan criticized the Taipei City Government for adding incentives without a legal basis. The case continues to unfold as authorities gather more evidence and conduct interviews.
