The National Symphony Youth Orchestra is slated to go on its first overseas tour in August. A total of 90 music students from Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, Thailand and the United States will gather at the Miaobei Art Center in Miaoli County on 20 July to form the third edition of the youth orchestra and hold a training course.

National Symphony Orchestra Music Director Jun Markl says the youth orchestra will perform in Singapore and Thailand. Markl says the overseas tour marks a new chapter for the orchestra and will allow the young music students to make new friends and learn new things as they bring Taiwan's energy to the world with their music.

The youth orchestra is one of a series of educational programmes introduced by Markl since he became music director in January 2022.
