Cabinet moves to speed up urban renewal
12 July, 2024
The cabinet has approved amendments to the Urban Renewal Act, which expands eligibility for government support to projects that applied for construction permits before the implementation of regulations arising from the 921 Earthquake.
This is expected to accelerate urban renewal efforts, particularly in Taipei and New Taipei City. Officials say over 8,000 buildings that are six floors or higher across Taiwan are expected to benefit from the change.
The draft will be submitted to the Legislative Yuan for review.
