Infineon to set up auto chip R&D centre in Taiwan
Germany-based Infineon Technologies AG will set up a new R&D facility in Taiwan, underscoring the country's growing role in the automotive chip sector.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs announced that the Infineon Advanced Automotive and Wireless Communication Semiconductor R&D Centre, the first by a European chipmaker in Taiwan, aims to position the country as a major automotive chip hub.
MOEA Minister JW Kuo highlighted Taiwan's critical role in the global semiconductor supply chain. Infineon's Sam Geha praised Taiwan's R&D talent and industry clusters.
The centre, supported by the MOEA, will collaborate with local partners to innovate in the automotive sector. The MOEA projects the center will attract NT$2.7 billion in investment and generate NT$60 billion in output for Taiwan's electric vehicle industry.
