The Ministry of the Interior is planning to beef up police manpower to protect infrastructure in such areas as fuel, water, electricity and communications.

Liu Shi-fang says by the end of this year, 1811 elite officers will be stationed to protect critical infrastructure for civilian and industrial needs.

She made the remarks in her report to the Legislative Internal Administration Committee adding that there will be joint drills among different law enforcement agencies.

Shifting her report to other topics, the minister says that under President Lai Ching-te's rental housing policy plans have been made to construct a total of 250-thousand directly built social housing units and to offer rent subsidies to 500,000 apartment units between 2025 and 2032.

On the issues of fraud, Liu says the Executive Yuan has sent 4 draft bills including the Fraud Prevention Act and the Technology Investigation and Protection Act to the Legislative Yuan and will strengthen the anti-fraud efforts in implementing the laws.
