Cabinet to focus on fraud
Premier Cho Jung-tai says the cabinet will be focusing heavily on ways to combat what he's claiming to be "rampant fraud in Taiwan."
According to Cho, the cabinet will crack down on fraud, crimes involving corruption, illegal arms possession and drugs.
Speaking during a handover ceremony, the premier called for support from lawmakers to pass four draft bills that he says will greatly enhance the government's ability to combat fraud.
The bills were approved by the cabinet on 9 May and are aimed at fraud prevention and the use and oversight of science and technology in investigations as well as amending the Communication Security and Surveillance Act and Money Laundering Control Act.
Cho is vowing to punish fraudsters for their criminal actions and - in his words warning that "those who commit fraud will not be allowed to enjoy their ill-gotten gains as they will be caught and brought to justice."
