Cabinet resigns en masse
Premier Chen Jian-ren chaired his last Executive Yuan meeting this morning and passed the cabinet's collective resignation.
After Chen and Deputy Premier Cheng Wen-tsan, as well as all the cabinet members signed the document, it'll be sent to President Tsai Ing-wen for approval. That means until the end of its term on 19 May, the Executive Yuan will not approve any major policies, and only routine and administrative matters will be handled, awaiting the official handover on 20 May.
According to people who attended today's meeting, the atmosphere was relaxed, and every attendee received small gifts from the premier. They also took a so-called "graduation" group photo after the meeting in front of the Executive Yuan Central Building based on tradition.
