The government is thanking the US lawmakers for approving a foreign aid package for Taiwan.

Under the passed legislation, US$2 billion in Foreign Military Financing Program funds will go to Taiwan and other regional security partners to counter Chinese aggression while another US$1.9 billion will be used to replenish defence articles and defence services provided to Taiwan as well as other regional partners. US President Joe Biden has promised to sign it into law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says both passage and bipartisan support for the foreign aid package once again reaffirms Washington's "rock-solid" commitment to helping Taiwan defend itself while the Ministry of National Defense is also thanking the House of Representatives for approving supplemental funding and says it will continue to negotiate with the US via existing channels to ensure the funding will be spent in the right places to boost Taiwan's defence capabilities and safeguard regional peace and security.
