February unemployment rate rises to 3.39%
22 March, 2024
The Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) announced that the unemployment rate for February experienced a rise, marking the end of a five-month downward trend. The increase of 0.08 percentage points brings the rate to 3.39%.
After adjusting for seasonal factors, the unemployment rate slightly edged up to 3.40%, showing a modest month-on-month increase of 0.01 percentage points.
The shift is attributed to the conclusion of temporary jobs after the Lunar New Year and the onset of the annual job-switching period, which together contributed to a reduction in employment figures and an uptick in unemployment numbers.
