A report by Swiss publisher IQAir shows Taiwan recorded an average concentration of 20.2 micrograms per cubic metre. That was more than South Korea's 19.2 micrograms per cubic metre, Hong Kong's 15.6 micrograms per cubic metre and the 9.6 micrograms per cubic metre recorded in Japan.

In terms of cities and specific locations, the highest average annual concentration of PM2.5 in Taiwan was recorded in Changhua County, at 24.5 micrograms per cubic metre. That was followed by Tainan with 20.9 micrograms per cubic metre and Dong-Gang Township in Pingtung, which had 20.7-micrograms per cubic metre in 2023.

The data from Taiwan was collected from 48 Ministry of Environment air quality stations, and five individual contributors providing observations from six stations.
