The Legislative Yuan's Transportation Committee approved a proposal to establish a special task force to look into the controversy surrounding Mirror TV's application for a broadcast license.

KMT lawmaker Chiu Jo-hua (邱若華) proposed the motion which passed by a 6-5 vote during a committee meeting. The proposal will allow the special task force access to documents related to the controversy and will look into whether any illegality occurred during the review and approval process.

Mirror TV has faced controversy since obtaining its broadcast license on 11 February 2022, including financial disputes with its parent company and frequent changes in management, among others. Opposition parties accused government officials of intervening to ensure the company received a license.

Mirror TV refuted the accusations, citing the lengthy two-year and two-month application process and repeated delays to it.
