The Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) has removed the limit for registration fees at medical facilities. The move lifts the nationwide NT$150 cap to register for a visit to hospitals and clinics.

Health Minister Hsueh Jui-yuan (薛瑞元) said the fees are administrative, and cannot be regulated by medical laws. Hsueh said the change will let medical institutions flexibly adapt to changes, increase salaries, and maintain the quality of their services. He added that competition in the medical sector will prevent significant price hikes.

However, Premier Chen Chien-jen has asked the health minister to confirm that healthcare providers will not collude in raising registration fees.
