Digital minister touts anti e-commerce fraud measures
Digital Minister Audrey Tang is touting progress made in efforts to combat e-commerce fraud.
Tang said in a report to the Legislative Yuan today that the Ministry of Digital Affairs has achieved a lot in the past year in terms of fraud prevention. They point out that there are currently no e-commerce platforms on the government's "high-risk" merchant list, and third-party payment providers are now using a registration system. In addition, Tang says the number of fraud cases involving gaming points has also decreased from more than 1,200 per month to 200.
They also urged lawmakers to support the "Electronic Signatures Act", with which publication of investment advertisements will require digital signatures from the publishers, which will also help to prevent the problem of fake accounts.
