The Minister of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) today announced that group tours to China will be temporarily suspended from June.

Minister Wang Kuo-tsai highlights the move aims to address the NT$80 billion tourism deficit caused by an imbalance in travel between Taiwan and China.

This decision factors in the economic impact on Taiwan's hospitality and food service industries and concerns over flight and national security issues.

The suspension period will be used to gauge China's response, particularly in terms of resuming tourist visits to Taiwan and addressing the M503 flight route issues.

A positive response from China could lead to a reassessment and potential resumption of tour groups after June.
