The Taichung Transportation Bureau says a fleet of electric buses developed by Hon Hai subsidiary Foxtron Vehicle Technologies is set to hit the city's streets later this month.
The first of the buses will be used on the No. 307 route, which travels along Taiwan Boulevard and covers Taichung City Hall, the National Museum of Natural Science, as well as Tunghai and Providence universities.
City transportation bureau chief Yeh Chao-fu says the fleet of five buses will begin carrying passengers from Taichung Railway Station to Wu-Qi Fishing Port.
Fares on the new electric bus route will be capped at NT$10 for Taichung residents and non-resident students enrolled in local schools, which is the norm with other buses in the city.
Foxtron Vehicle Technologies' Model T electric bus is already in service in Taipei, Tainan, Taitung, and Kinmen.
