Members of the European Parliament have voted on a resolution requiring the European Union to sign an agreement in support of Taiwan. The resolution focuses on Taiwan-EU trade and investment relations.

It also covers supply chain resilience, backs Taiwan's participation in international organizations, and calls for both sides to work together to push for reforms with the World Trade Organization.

The vote on the agreement comes after ministerial-level trade talks between Taiwan and the EU began last year.

The European Commission's executive vice president has said talks have since evolved and now cover not only trade, but also economic security and exports of goods for both civilian and military purposes.
