MOL launches centre to boost retention of migrant workers
The Ministry of Labor (MOL) has launched a service center dedicated to the retention of skilled migrant workers.
Labor Minister Hsu Ming-chun says the center is meant to "provide a one-stop service to enable the speedy processing of administrative paperwork for employers, employees and labor brokers."
The center is located in Hsinchu County which, along with Taoyuan, has the largest number of migrant workers.
During the opening ceremony, the labor minister said the center will also provide in-person workplace consultations, and one-on-one counter and telephone services.
The Ministry of Labor says the Long-term Retention of Migrant Workers Service Center supports the government's policy of seeking to keep migrant workers employed in the manufacturing, construction, fisheries, care work, and agricultural sectors.
Data shows that as of the end of November, the government's long-term retention program has continued the employment or upgraded the status of more than 21,000 migrant workers.
