September jobless rate falls to 3.48%
24 October, 2023
Taiwan’s unemployment rate fell from a month earlier in September to sit at 3.48% as the number of first-time jobseekers declined.
According to government data, the September unemployment rate fell 0.08 percentage points from a month earlier to reach its lowest level for the month since 2000.
However, after seasonal adjustments, the local jobless rate rose 0.02 percentage points from a month earlier to stand at 3.44% in September.
In the first nine months of this year, the unemployment rate was down 0.17 percentage points from a year earlier to 3.52%.
The Census Department says with a growing number of new graduates landing their first jobs, the number of first-time jobseekers tumbled, helping push the overall unemployment rate lower.
