The Tourism Bureau has welcomed Taiwan's four millionth inbound visitor this year. The bureau says the visitor was a woman from South Korea's Jeju Island who arrived in Taiwan on Wednesday.

She arrived with her mother and younger sister at Taipei's Songshan Airport for a four-day trip, and was greeted by officials including Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan and Transport Minister Wang Kwo-tsai. The woman is visiting Taiwan for the first time.

The transport minister says the post-coronavirus recovery of Taiwan's tourism sector is continuing to gain momentum, putting it on track to meet the government's goal of six million foreign visitors this year.

Data shows that flight totals are back to around 80% of their pre-pandemic level at Songshan Airport and 70% at Taoyuan International Airport.
